Fish TV – moisture behind the lens

Hey everyone, i have a Fish TV, 7″ model that i have used for 2 years. It has worked good so far, until yesterday i noticed moisture behind the lens. It does look like the lens has threads so i’m hoping it can come off and i can seal it up a little better. I did try to take it off with my hands while i was on the ice and didn’t seem like it was going to go. I just don’t want to break the lens trying to take it off. My next choice was going to be using some kind of soft jaw pliers to help the lens off, but i’m afraid if it has some kind of glue on the threads that it wont come off without breaking.

Has anyone ever tried to take the lens off, or fix this problem any other way with the Fish TV lens? Any other ideas?

Years ago I use to be a cameraman on a fishing show. Sometimes we would get fog behind the lens of our cameras. Electronics have to acclimate to their environment for the fogging issue to clear up. It’s like coming inside from the cold and your glasses fogging up (for those of us that wear glasses). It’s a thought anyway.

Yes, i do understand the temp change causing the fog. I have to make sure i don’t bring my muzzleloader in the house if it has a load in the barrel because it too will attract moisture when it warms up.

I noticed the fogging after it had been in the house for 3 weeks prior. I don’t think warm to cold would cause moisture? Oh well.

I put it under a lamp to warm it up and it has went away for now. It may continue to have the problem after using it again, but for now i don’t think i am going to take it apart.

Put the camera in a ziploc bag with some minute rice and seal it up. In day or two the moisture will be gone, rice absorbs it. Works well with cell phones dropped in the water as well- don’t ask me how I know that

Underwater videocamera. Probably one of the cheaper ones though.
