Well my man, since I have not had a chance to write on here due to working out of town for the last month and a bit I will talk about some tip-up fishing…
Up here in Canada, well Alberta, we can not use live bait however that does not really take away a technique..
I like using a tip up of any style that sits over the hole with a spool inside the hole, with the flag being held on a T Bar and the first inch of movement sets it off, flag pops up. Now, that fish can run with that line and not know that it is being hooked or gonna be hooked.
I also prefer using Mustad Trebles, in red, adds a bit of a “blood affect” to the bait. From the spool I will run something like a 20lb corded ice line, the heavier stuff down to a swivel and from the swivel I tie on about 4 feet of a quality fluro to the treble (s).
Its a simple and flawless technique and if I had more time for pictures etc I would help ya out…
