I am looking for a place to catch walleye and pike without having to venture to the Iowa Great Lakes. I have been to Big Creek and never had any luck. I live in central Iowa and just want to really catch some Pike. (Size does not matter) I would just like to get my dad on some beings he has always wanted to catch one through the ice. Any ideas?

There are nice walleye in Twelve Mile Lake near Creston. I’ve caught them from 10″ to 26″ in length there.
I’ve never caught any pike that far south.
My father-in-law did catch a 36″ Tiger Muskie on 3 Mile Lake on father’s day a few years ago. No ice was present at that time.

Both of these lakes are about 45 mins sw of Des Moines and also contain nice bass and catfish populations.
    FYI

    Click this link

I did some home work for you and would bet a dog turd ( I’m broke) this is the area you are asking about.

I’d look for Hallett Quarry or the park as mentioned. Sounds like a nice area to visit!!

Hope this leads you on the right track or you get your answer from the locals.
Once you have the location you can google earth the area and check it over from a birds eye view to see if it is something you are interested in.
