I gained access to a pond in central Iowa that hasn’t been fished before through the ice. Always nice being the first am I right? Caught around a dozen crappies and a couple gills the first night. The second night we caught around 100 gills. Not huge ones by any means but large enough to eat. We could have just kept going if we wanted but we kept around 60-75 of them. Someone needs to take some out of there so they grow bigger.

IS this a newer pond that hasn’t had a chance to mature? I’ve always wanted a pond to stock and mess with. Kinda’ hard to pull off in MPLS though.

    Thanks for the report.

Its been around since the 70’s but its all private an nobody ever ice fished it. The same family has owned it the whole time. Its a private campground in the summertime that people can go to and fish. My dad has caught 10-12 pound albino channel cats in it during the summer but they all went back in. He has a bass mounted from there that went 8-9 pounds. I do have the pics as soon as I locate them. I had a hard drive fail and lost a ton of fishing pics and I am still trying to recover them.
