I want to get a gps for icefishing use that I can both punch in coordinates and save spots to it and be able to get fairly close back to them without the use of land marks. I fish lakes here that have flooded timber and right now use trees to navigate to my exact spots. Some day the trees with fall and won’t be sticking above water level. I am looking for something that is easy to use and fairly accurate

Garmin Oregon or Dakota. Touch screen and easy to use. Can load Lakemaster chip or data On card depending on which unit.

This one has worked very well for me and works with both Navionics or Lakemaster map chips. And as a bonus you can use it in the summer as a stand-alone sonar/GPS unit on a small boat.

It seems hard to get Lakemaster chips for the Garmins. I couldn’t get a Wisconsin chip for my Nuvi because nobody had them.

I have a lowrance XGOG or something like that. I use it in my truck for traveling and portable for summer and ice fishing. I have lakemaster chip that works pretty well. I can enter coordinates and also put in my own. The only thing I wish it had for summer fishing would be to map my route for the day so I could drift back the same spot. Other than that, I really like it.

If no retailers near you stock them, contact LakeMaster.

I have a Garmin Oregon 450 and really like it. Not only do I use it on the ice but in my truck and on my ATV also, on my smaller boat I transfer NEMA data to my Humminbird from it. It has a 3″ touch screen and easily fits in the palm of your hand. Since it is a touch screen there is no need for buttons other than the power button on its side, which makes it smaller without making the screen smaller. It is also capable of displaying 3D when the chip or software you are using is 3D. TOPO maps are 3D and made for states and regions of the US, Canada and other countries around the world. If you fish, hunt, hike, bike or climb this unit will get help you get where you want to go.
