Bitter Cold Weekend On It’s Way

I have been spending a lot of time looking over maps, checking my personal log and have put together a great game plan that will cover a little over a mile by foot. It will require downsizing to just a sled, power auger and the bare essentials for the adventure in hopes of a knock out front page report. This doesn’t seem like the weekend to do it. The trip might require a sick day on the next decent weather pattern

This weekend’s plans are short trips from the truck keeping in mind if a move has to be made, it can be done with an easy load up and go. The plan is to land on fish and keep snuggled up in the Otter while playing the best video game offered to hard water fisherman……watch the LX-5 for targets

Make sure to keep your skin covered and a hot beverage on hand while chasing them finned critters during the cold snap Iceheads.

Best of luck to those that plan on venturing out into what Mother Nature is dealing us

Oh no he is not getting off that easy, I’m dragging him with me. I need someone to drill the holes, set up the shack and get the heater going while I sit in the truck and stay warm

The Ice Castle will get put to use this weekend. I will turn on the heater before leaving the house for he lake and after a short drive I will be outside long enough to crank the house down, turn on the generator. After that watch football and the LX-5 while having a few with friends. Good luck and stay warm.

I’m going to have to wear shoes instead of my slippers to the shack this weekend. I’ll be firing up the heat Friday afternoon and she won’t be turned off till we leave Sunday night. It’s always 75 and sunny on Menomin

Indeed indeed, when the wind kicked up today it had enough chill to freeze the spools on my tip-ups, was 5 when I arrived -4 when I left. I got the itch bad, but that wind with no shack(yea Im nuts) has me thinking otherwise.

After Jesse and I freeze our butts in the morning, I’m dragging him out in the boat to warm up.

Best Crappie day of my life was a -75 windchill… We were ready to quit at sunset with icicles hanging from the beards when the bigguns moved in…some of them hitting 17″.

No tents back then…just tough it out sitting on your 5 gal pail… I may go back to ice fishing with the set ups you guys have today…kinda like sittin in a motel room compared to the old days…I like that

    Right

We all know better than that, you wouldn’t want to drag that Sally along. He would just make more work for you. And who needs more work when you are playing?

Knock em dead gentlemen, Gracie and I are going to hit beaver lake for some of them monster gills Saturday. Then I got a report of 11-12 inch average specks on Perry so Sunday I am making a little road trip. I almost forgot to mention that the guy that was catching the crappie is going with me.

Well one good thing about cold is a guy can ad more layers and all is good.
In the heat, a guy can’t take enough off to be comfortable and still look decent.

    Unless you are Bk. eeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
