Being that I am a kluts and have no idea where to start in sharpening auger blades I am turning to IDO for some answers. First off, I need to sharpen my blades how often? I have a 6″ mora and it is getting a little hard to drill a hole. Secondly, how do you store and clean your blades to keep them up? Do I need to remove them from the auger after the season or do I just leave them in a dry area? If I am going to sharpen my blades, do I need a honeing stone or can I just do it with a fine file? Like I said, I have no idea where to start…..HELP PLEASE!

Personally I would start HERE Why risk a trip to the E.R.? Plus it’s done by them so you know the angle is right, and it’s razor sharp. Also it’s less expensive than new blades. just my .02. I do this for both of my hand units, as well as my Power. ALways have a set on, and one in reserve that way when it’s time for one to be sent in , should that be mid season, I already have a set. ALthough it usually only takes like 3 days to get them back, but whatever. better safe than sorry.

trade them in at a bait shop the angle is everything. worth buying a new set or resharpened ones

If you do it your self, you’ll screw them up.Been there, done that. Buy a new set and send the old ones in.

I’ve touched mine up but never really re-sharpen them.

Not a problem. Decided. To send a set in when I got home so thanks for the reminder.
