I have looked at a map of their location and can’t quite decide on the best way to get there from Bloomington(35W). I am heading up to Mille Lacs Saturday morning and would like to swing in there on the way up, so I would obviously need to get to 169 after the stop. I have ordered items in the past from them but I must confess I have never been in the physical store so I thought this would be a great opportunity. Like I mentioned, I can read a map but was hoping for some tips.

I take 35w to ten west (not west on 10) to 65. Then take 65 to 27 west. Quickest way I have found from s Mpls. Love that place and they also have great bait

I’ll second that. Make sure its HWY 10 West, not the first county rd 10 west. Either will get you to 65 North and Thorne is on your right. A mile before Thorne Bros there is a White Castle if you really want to make it a good trip. BTW Todders makes this drive about 30 weekends a year and Thorne Bros is a mandatory stop, so it must be the best way.

Where does 65 meet up with 27? Is there another name for 27? Thanks for the reply!

I believe it is 5 or 6 miles North of Mora.

Just take 65 to 18 dumps you out on the south east side of the lake. 1 hour and 15 min north of Thorn Bros

If you look for them on google maps it shows a great map to their new location. Their old location is on there also in Fridley. Guess they havent removed that listing yet.

Where on the lake are you heading to??? I live right at hwy 65 and hwy 10 and if I go to the west or south sides I take hwy 10 west to hwy 169 north. If I go the east side I take hwy 65 north to hwy 27.

Thanks for all of the replies! We will be heading out of the public launch in Cove. So is 169 or 27 quicker? On the map it looks like a horse apiece. Any recent reports from Mille Lacs? Hot lures/bait?

I think you are better off going across 27. 65 is pretty smooth going north out of the cities from Thorne brothers. Last time cutting across to 169 I think it was princeton that had a detour around a bridge they where working on.

You will find 27 north of Knife lake on 65 about 5 miles Im guessing. Its hard to miss. There is a bar right and a radio tower on the corner there.

either way is a toss up to go to cove bay. on a saturday morning both ways will be traffic free. I went up one way and came home the other last weekend with no problems. Went out of Jerrys just east of cove and also out of garrison south and bite was tough for us.
