What’s the best all around line for fishing walleye, mono or fireline ? Curious what people are using & why.

For me it will depend on water clarity. I never fish mono and fish waters with very clear water. Vanish for clear water and hard line for stained water.

If it’s really cold and not using a shelter, I’ll use Vansih. Hard line holds water and frezes on the spool. I have yet to try the 832(#?)line though.

So, best all around for me is either 4 or 6 lb Vanish.

I use fireline high vis. on the river. You can feel everything on the bottom.

Every jig stick i have loaded with fireline. If they get really finicky I may tie a flourocarbon leader, I like the no stretch when fishing deeper water for eyes to get those hooks set in well. If there is a spot for a dead stick that will be fireline as well with a longer flouro leader. Make sure your drag is set or back reel with caution if using a flouro leader as it’s a short amount of line for stretch and may result in a lost fish. You can always tighten your drag as you go on fighting the fish.
