Showdown

Got delivery of the showdown yesterday from Cabelas sale. Great deal I got the heads up on from here. I am excited to try it out. My first complaint thought is a small pamphlet that I think may be the instructions. This small pamphlet has even smaller print and these 62 year old eyes struggle making things out even with my multi-focal assist. I am hoping I can print a more legible version off the net somewhere. Any insight on this guys?

Looked all over internet seeing if I could find a place to download in PDF. To my suprise, no avail. You may want to email Marcum and see if they’d email you a manual that you could read off computer.

Good Luck. I’m sure there are many here that will be able to walk you right through and get you on the ice.

Go to Kinko’s and blow (enlarge) them up with a copy machine.

    I agree…they didn’t spend much on print

If you like the performance as much as I have been enjoying it though, you’ll forget about the pamphlet

Any questions you have fire away….I have as do others, a lot of field time with the unit

For those that purchased the Troller and not the performance pack, it is easy to set up your own pack for running off a 12v as you will find in other post.
The adaptor that fits into the Troller for hooking the unit up to a 12v can be purchased at your local electronic store for just a few bucks. Make yourself a 3amp fuse link and your set to go. The performance pack at first came with a 2amp fuse. I upgraded to a quality 3amp fuse after contacting MarCum and was told the 3amp fuse will not void the warranty.
They even mentioned they were going to bump up to a 3amp fuse with the performance pack themselves. A 2amp fuse bouncin’ around in a sled on the ice just doesn’t last long!

You won’t believe the new life the Troller takes on once plugged into a 12v battery.

I too would like the option of using the 12v battery on my Ice Troller. Here’s what I’m confused about. Six AA batteries at 1.5v each adds up to 9v. I thought perhaps the factory performance pack had some type of step down device to make a 12v battery be compatable with the 9v system. Any comments on how a 12v battery does not damage the 9v Ice Troller?

The unit is made to run off either, being I don’t understand the workings inside I call it Magic
Like metioned…when you plug into your 12v you will like the increase in voltage

I’ve been thinking of getting a new flasher this year but have been leaning towards the Showdown lately. I need to get out and check them all out.

Mark my words though. If I buy one, Marcum will come out with a color version next year and for the same price.

I doubt that will happen next year!

I can tell you color is a big bonus. With that said if you are making your first purchase for a locator and it is the price that has you attracted to the Troller, you can get into the VX-1P at a reasonable price. Then you will have color and bottom zoom.

I have been having a blast with the Showdown Troller but the purchase was made to have a pocket size unit while in search mode and to be used as a second/backup unit behind the LX-5.

I just bought the LX5 after the holiday’s and thought the same thing. They printed it in #3 font! I was able to read it but it wasn’t easy. I think they made it small so that you could slip it inside the pockets on the carrier and take it with you on the ice. I guess that makes sense.

Agree the Print is SMALL. But it is easy to use. Push up-down together for ice mode. All else is simple. Keep the gain low for less goasting. Put it in a base mount of some kind and get at them.

For anyone who wants it I’ve got a word doc of the showdown manual with 14pt font instead of the 10 point. Send me your email and I’ll get it over to you.
