My brother has been looking for a way to get his GPS and Showdown in the same unit and run off the same battery if possible. This is what he came up with so far.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions on the wiring for running off the same battery(external 12volt)?

I’ve got a similar setup with a H2Oc RAM-mounted in the case alongside my X67c. I have a cig-plug wired to the battery for the X67c and use the 12v adapter to run the H2Oc.

Thought it’d be the bee’s knees. Turns out I don’t use it as-is that often. Just really no reason to have the GPS on when you’re sitting at a hole. It looks pretty bad-arsed, though!

I think that gps runs on 3V so you’d need a voltage transformer. Maybe use a dc receptical with alligator clips (or wiring terminals) and use the mfgr dc adapter…

I run my LX-5 and lights off one battery using these terminals, if that helps.
Radio Shack has always had what I need for answers and the goods to make stuff

    Nice set up

    Bret,
Those are really convenient battery terminal connectors. Those definately look like a good solution for connecting my GPS unit to the Showdown battery.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Bret-

Thanks for the idea with the double ended quick clips. Were the ones you found at Radio Shack the normal crimp on type or did you have to solder them? I ran to RS over lunch and found a similar style but they’ll need soldering to work.

The ones pictured here crimped on.
They make a number of different style terminals this size.

Not sure you can’t even find them at Wally World but I prefer hitting the Shack. Like I mentioned, they always are able to set me up with what I need. The one on one is worth a few more penny’s in product
