Has anyone checked the ice this week on smaller metro lakes? A friend said he found 15 inches on a small, shallow lake near Hudson. There are no springs or current and he said all of the ice melted and then re-froze. Want to pull a wheel house out this week but I would like some confimation from other IDO’ers. Thanks

I am pulling my Ice Castle out this week with my truck. We had over 14″s on a larger local lake last weekend. Top few inches was re-freeze but the balance was very good solid ice. Should put good ice on this week too! I saw vehicles on a few lakes in the Amery area today. The Criox was even looking really good over the weekend, won’t be long and we’ll be driving out there.

As always CHECK AS YOU GO!

we pulled the wheel house out yesterday. We have an 8 x 11 and she is not light. We have a solid 12 – 14 in most places where everything melted down and refroze. There are pockets of slush out there still so be careful. We had 2 inches of ice frozen over 6 inches of slush/water. This was only on the parts of the lake that still had snow cover. This was before the last 2 light snows we just got so the bare ice was the way to go. It might be a little harder to find any of the snow now unless it blew around and you still have bare ice.
