good work men, thanks for the hot tip!will have to give them try
Yup he was like a kid with a new toy “Hey, HEY Mike check these out”
, “hey wanna try som?”
“come on they work great.”
It’s always fun to be around Bret with new stuff to be tested. Great way to end the year – Great day on the ice Buddy Bret.
.
Jeff, I like not catching any on the regular nuggies and Cal uses a mix of both micro and regular. Along with the red the new 2 tone nuggies and weggies are flat out awesome. I’m dead serious I havent bought a waxie or maggot in 2 years.
Finally, I’m able to teach this old dog a trick. Good to see you the other day and thanks for the “show and tell” on the Marcum.
Happy New Year everyone
JP
Thanks Bret, I was just looking at a jar of those in a clearance bin I invested in the baby flukes
probably works but theres no substitute for the real thing. and the real thing isnt 14 dollars a tin!
5 bucks a jar for the Gulp, and one minnow took many fish before lost.
On this day the plastic took keepers while the “real thing” caught 6inch crappies and 4 inch gills.
It always pays to have an assortment in my book!
I’m sure there are days that live bait will out do the plastics but, I’ll have both to put the odds in my favor
Here’s to ya ol dog
Nice job JP, thanx for the tip. I’m glad that you and Mike got to end the year with some dandy fish Bret
Cam and myself have finally started to get out, today was our first serious day together with a great fish fry collected. Nice gills in shallow weeds was all we needed to lift our spirits and gain some momentum for the new year Happy new year to you pool 8 fanatics and to the rest of the IDO family.
Dont forget the fish fry from gulp alive as well.
The nuggies and wedgees are sweet….but there is a new secret that will be behind thorne doors rather shortly!
I have been fishing these puppies all winter and they are awesome. If I was smart I would have never got the guys stuff into the store…and kept them to myself…
Bought a jar of the 1″ Black Shad last summer….Used them on a white and pink Ratso on Green Bay (shore fishing) and was out fishing the guy next to me using minnows….
Now if they could only make the jars so they would totally seal…..No matter how hard I put the cover on it still leaks…and that juice REALLY stinks
Thanks for the tips
This info is what makes this site so great and sets it far above the other sites out there

I hear ya Jeff
Learned the hard way back in the day with Josh’s products in a jar. Jars are meant to sit upright…thank the good Lord for zip lock bags now days
Something else I just did….
Took some Wedgee’s from CJ&S and put in the jar of solution. If you read the directions it says to put your bait back into the jar to rejuvenate…why wouldn’t it impregnate my plastics?
Given’ it a try….I do believe the sent helps a plastic bait!!
I believe there was a post on here about the leaky jars. A guy was using plumbers tape and it stopped the leaks. I tried it and it works awesome. Just make sure the jar is as dry as possible. Also dont forget the gulp minnow heads on a fiskas. It has been awesome for me this year. It seems to get the bigger gills. Ive got like 20 jars of gulp and when it leaked all EVERYTHING it made a big stinky mess. Dan

Here is how you keep these jars from leaking all over the place. Open the lid, cut an “X” in the center of the gasket. Do not remove the gasket! Reach down threw the middle of the “X” and pull out a bait. Again, leave the gasket under the lid attached to the top of the container.
It also helps a great deal if you store the jar upright!

I’ve been doing that since I first spilled Gulp juice all over the place a few years ago. No one seems to believe me that the solution is as simple as a 79 cent roll of plumbers tape and they all try to convince themselves that they have to go buy some crazy contraption that costs 20 bucks and takes up a bunch more room.
tape…. going to have to try that. I finally got the smell out of the boat after a jar flipped over (with lid closed) in my glove box. Total stinky mess. Only let that happen once.
On the weggies, do any of you find you have to trim the from little ball smaller on real little jigs?

A lot of guys in the bass world do this, and swear by it. Plastics….even spinnerbaits, if soaked long in the juice it will take on that wonderful gulp smell. I’ve been a huge fan of gulp for bass fishing the Great Lakes for smallmouth and have stocked plenty of the minnows, maggots, and minnow heads while working at Fleet Farm but still have never bothered to give it a try for ice fishing. Might just have to do that…
