Been a Jiffy guy. Converting. Not going to do the Strikelite, so I’m choosing between Lazer Mag & the Express. What’s the difference? Only diff I see is the Express has an extra 1/2 hp.

Also, what blade to get? I don’t need a chipper, as we are always cutting fresh holes. But I’ve also heard that the lazer blades are on the fragile side if they get banged around much. What’s the story, and what should I get?

I have an 8” Express 2hp Tecumseh going on its 4th season. It weighs in at 24lbs.
She’s a screamer and plenty auger for me. I’m not one to be shy about making some noise and punchin’ hole’s

With an auger rotation at 170RPM at full and Lazer blades it doesn’t take long to open some holes. Less effort and quicker than chipper blades.

With that said…I have had blade issues, do to my own fault. The blades don’t like stumps or sand. When drilling holes around areas that see truck traffic, make sure you are not drilling in the clump of crap that fell out from under a vehicle.

Chipper blades eat stumps and debris Easy to sharpen and don’t freeze up as bad as shaver blades. They are slower and a little more work on the arms if you plan on running a tank of gas threw it per outing.

They all serve there purpose. 2-2.5hp is plenty for an 8inch cut or less. The 7inch is used by most. I agree 7 is plenty big but, beaver dams just look better hovering over an 8inch hole too me

    Good luck with your decision

If you don’t have an issue spending the $$, I would highly recommend the Lazer Mag with the solo motor. I recently went from an Eskimo Barricuda Plus with a tecumseh motor to the Strikemaster Solo Lazer Pro. It’s an amazing machine. I’ve used both the Lazer Pro and Lazer Mag with the Solo motors, and they are .5 horses different, but haven’t noticed a difference in the two yet.

    Good luck with your decision…

Still wondering the difference between the Lazer Mag & the Lazer Mag Express. I know the Magnum is the 2hp. And the Lazer Mag is the 2.5hp. But the Express? What is it? It’s not on the Strikemaster website. Is it the original Solo that Strikemaster introduced last year? I can find a great deal on the Express. It says 2.5 hp on the website I’m looking at. It looks like the same description as the Lazer Mag, but the same website also has the Lazer Mag. ‘Sup?

I believe the Express is the old model with the Tecumseh engine. Get the Solo if you have the $, I had a Eskimo with the Tecumseh and the Solo makes it look like a toy!
