I wanted to stay out of the Thorne parade until I had a magic want placed in my hand!! WOW are these sticks unbelievable!! I put Thorne sticks in customers hands each day now converting one at a time!! Looks like Brien liked putting the barbs to this TANK yesterday!! Kind of Like Cheating TB!! Feeling the tick vibrate through to your wrist on a walleye tap is unheard of in ice fishing rods until the advent of the Walleye “Sweetheart” I actually am using the Perch “Sweetheart” for big eyes too!

Not only do they make, IMO, the best ice rods out there, they also provide the greatest customer service of any shop I’ve been to. Just a great group of folks that starts at the top.

If you haven’t been to the store you need to treat yourself and go. If you’ve never checked out a Thorne ice rod, you need to.

Well you know 80’s music just hit the Falls, so sometimes we’re a bit behind with the times. I haven’t had the pleasure to hit the store in person and most of my shopping is done online these days due to my crazy guide schedule. I will say that the guys at TB……… KNOW RODS!! I talked with Matt and he set me up with rods that fit my fishing style. I’m very happy with my current set ups. I’m also considering adding a Power Noodle from TB.

Loading up the rods puts a smile on my face with the even distribution of weight in the flex. The blank has tremendous feel. The feel is amazing, and frankly I also LOVE the perch Sweetheart as I often am jigging 1/8 oz Lightning spoons or H20 jigs.

I know I’m a little late to the game

What do all of you Thorne bros rod finatics prefer for your jigging stick?? Do you like a little extra length?? I’m able to get away with a longer stick with all the room in my Otters, so I’m considering yet another TB Walleye stick in say 36 inches that can also double for an outside jump shooting rod. Any experience with the 36 inch rods??

Gotta run!! Lastly my Otter Hardcase is a MUST for these nice rods. You guys can have all the other rod holders the hard case from Otter is the best way to get these rods in one piece to your fishing location. I have 4 rods and reels in my case. (2) Walleye Sweethearts 30,32 (1) Perch Sweetheart 32, and (1) Quiver stick 32-34?

Chris, man have I got the rod for you. I had Thorne build me a 36″ outside perch sweetheart with REC recoil guides and it’s the greatest walleye jig stick I’ve ever held. With the extra length all you need is a flick of your wrist and it’s game on and with the recoils I notice a lot less icing of the guides when I’m running outside.
    P.S. Your quiverstick is 35″

    Chris,
I just got a 36″ walleye sweetheart, and I am VERY impressed. It works great as an outside rod, but I also use it in my house and I only have a Otter Medium Cabin. I have been looking at going up to rainy to fish after seeing all you pictures, if you wanted to try one. Although I am worried you would fall in love with it and not let me leave with it.

If you are looking for an outside jiggin’ rod for panfish, order up a 35-36″ Power Noodle with the recoil guides. You will love that thing.

Thanks Guys!! Sounds like that 36 inch rod would be perfect inside or out considering my large fishing areas in the Otters. Great….Something else I “NEED”

I got my first Thorne Bros ice rod in 1997 I believe. Was snooping around the Scheel’s in Fargo, ND and they had some rods on the shelf that were just unbelievable and unlike anything I’d seen before. Remember this was 13-14 years ago so a guy didn’t have much to pick from in ice rods. Genz rods were just coming on the scene but not much else. I had to have one and swallowed hard over the $50 some dollar price tag. Paired that with a 500 size Shimano Spirex reel and out the door I went with my hundred + dollar ice fishing combo. I thought I was nuts!

I still have that rod, in fact it is my go to ice rod. I’m pretty sure its a 28″ Perch Sweetheart.

That rod started it and the Thorne collection has grown. I’ve tried to find less expensive rods that could be adequately substituted but haven’t yet. Sold all those rods off.

Its always cool seeing the rods in various stages of being brought to life. Seeing yours it got me thinking I wonder just how many pigs they are gonna get to play with! Sharp looking color wraps as well.

If you think feeling a walleye thump is cool. Wait till you feel a crappie inhale a jigs 25 feet down.

36 is perfect for what you want. And with what Wallace said, with my perch sweet heart I can still feel crappies tick a 1/16 oz spoon 25 feet down!! They are my favorite rods! I’m slowly switching over!
