Spent some time on the Chetek Chain this afternoon. The good news is that more of the lake was frozen up solid. There is still plenty of slush but it was greatly improved since I was out on Thursday. The bite was tough. Plenty of gills and crappies on the screen but most of them were just sniffers. Changed it up alot – size, color, presentation but it was work for three of us to ice 35-40 fish. It was the slowest bite I’ve had on the chain this season. We kept 25 solid eaters between the three of us. I’m still very impressed with the quality of the bluegills that are coming out of the chain. Fished out of the Ice Team 6X12 Hub Shelter. Super comfortable. I’m pleased with the purchase so far. Might get out for a while tomorrow…. we’ll see. With warmer weather on the way I’m hoping the bite picks back up. It’s always fun and I can’t complain about even the slow days. 35-40 fish is still a bunch and time with my good buddies Al and Robb is great. Good luck to you all!
