Going to Rice Lake, WI next Thursday to spend some time fishing with my son. I am going to take my portable. Can anyone tell me what I need, if any identification on the outside of the shack.

    Thanks

You need your name and address clearly labeled on the outside of your house.

Which reminds me, I forgot to make a few signs…

Only time you need to ID is if it staying, portables do not require one. Have fun.

As long as your shack is not staying overnight on the ice or being left unattended for a period of time you dont need anything on it!!!
Remember to get a WI license and you can fish 3 lines!!!!!!

Have fun and report back with how it went!!

You guys may want to review your regulations. I’m not sure about Inland waters, but with boundary waters a sign is a must.

This comes directly from pages 15 and 16 of the 2010-2011 fishing Regulations booklet.

Fishing shelters on Wisconsin boundary waters with Iowa, Michigan or Minnesota must display the name and address on all shelters at all times, even portable shelters that are occupied or in use.

Inland waters do not require ID> Boundary waters do.
