Opening holes in a perm shack

    OK guys,
I’m in the garage this morning putting the finishing touches on the new 4×8 perm shack and just had one of those moments. I was looking at the holes in the floor and just realized how does one re-open them? My point being, how do you keep the shack from turning into a smoke house filled with 2 stroke exhaust? Does anyone use any type of flexible extension on the muffler to run it outside? Any other ideas? I can open the door and windows but that isn’t going to be enough.
I’m interested in hearing what others do in this situation.
    Thanks,
    Don

We always used a spud or chisel to open them up once they were already drilled. Put insulated hole covers down and you shouldnt have a problem, at least we never did.

I know you probably have already heard this but that smoke problem won’t go away, and it stays around and lingers forever. I had the same problem with mine and finally gave up and bought an electric auger…problem solved. Sold my gas auger and threw in a few more bucks and went with the strike master electric and never looked back. Good luck with your new shack.

Buy one of mi-lacs spuds staggered cutting cuts ice like butter. sportsman guide has them if ya can’t find them locally.
I had the two piece one its awsome $74 is a bit pricy I’d go with the one piecefor around $40.

Get an electric auger or the new propane auger. No exhaust problem there. A four stroke also wouldn’t create the exhaust of a normal two stroke.

If getting a new auger isn’t an option for you, then just open the door and some windows. Maybe put an exhaust fan in the house.

We use the Strikemaster electric for ours – if you are planning on doing a LOT of opening of old holes, make sure that you have a chipper blade – it can make life a little easier…

Amsoil synthetic oil does not smoke much at all.
