Picked up a clam expedition hub house to do some early ice spearing from. was out last weekend and it worked great but when I got home I set it up in the garage to dry out and I already have 2 broken pole ends!!! Reading the directions it notes that the expedition model is tricky to collapse down but I never forced anything.

Is this typical of these style houses???

The plastic ball ends seem pretty cheap and to be a bad link in the setup…. I know that double bull blinds had the same problem and I noticed that they now mold the ball onto the fiberglass rod instead of a plastic cap with a ball on the end.

Any ideas or is there maybe aluminum ends you can pick up or just get away from the hub style houses???

I would get away from that type of house. The way I think is if it looks like it may break…it will. The more simple the better off you are. Especially when your out on the ice and its 15 below…if it breaks you have to be able to fix it. Just an opinion.

    Good luck

I have a clam pop up and had an issue after my first couple uses, I contacted them directly and had excellent service and customer service, not to mention 2 follow up emails to make sure everything was good.

    I would contact them directly,

Yep I bought a new one last year …. set it up in the shop and a pole shot right through the corner ! I called Clam and had to cut the emblems out an send them a picture of the holes. They sent me a brand new one …. excellant customer service. I sold the Expedition on Craigs list and decided that was all the longer I needed to own that style house.
