ok when it comes to hand augers and such. people say this one cuts faster better, and such. Are the blades also the majority of the reason on gas augers to cut better? as you get a cheaper model, then upgrade the blades to teh top of the the line. is this possible? has anyone tried this?

    thanks

Just bring Dan along and have him drill the holes. It won’t matter if the blades are sharp or not because he will be doing all the work.

Yes blades make all the difference in the world, however you cannot put Lazer blades on a mora auger for example, or vise versa. In March you can usually pick up a new lazer at any retailer not wanting to store that auger for the summer for cheap.

Unless you know a machinist that can retrofit them for you.

How often should you be sharpening your auger blades? And what about laying your auger down in the snow? I have heard some guys say that that dulls the blades really bad. Any thoughts?

Iceman, sounds ironic but sharpening depends on how many holes cut and debris. Not trying to be smart but when they get dull and don’t cut well.

As far as dulling by laying in the snow, I’m thinging someone was tugging ur chain. The only thing I can possibly think of would be rust and cutting a hole gets them wet so…. I’m not sure what they are trying to tell ya. -Mark

No worries on the smart thing. Just a question ya know. I was thinking the same thing on laying your auger in the snow but I just had to double check. Didn’t know if it was real or not. Thanks for the reply Mark. Appreiciate it.
