I’m looking for a new panfish rod for ice and wondering which of the Thorne bros. rod you guys would choose. It will be used for jigging light jigs mostly. For sunnies crappies and maybe some perch too. Should I be looking at a quiverstick, powernoodle or or maybe a panfish sweetheart. What are your guys opinions of the different rods.

Myself I like the Power Noodles and own several. As Lundgeye just mentioned, I picked up a custom built 32 inch P Noodle with the larger recoil guides for open ice use.
The Power Noodles are a sight rod….you see the hit in the extremely sensitive tip. Don’t count the Power Noodles out in the beefy arena either. My largest fish on a Noodle was a carp of 18 pounds.
The Sweetheart series rods are graphite models and are adaptable to the Thorne springs, which are of themselves a small piece of genius. There is no other spring that will do a better job than the Thorne springs.
The Quiver Stick is a carbon rod and is the epitome of senitivity. A bit stiffer than the Power Noodles, you can feel a gnat breath on the line with a Quiver Stick. As far as a first rate rod with broad range of applications, the Quiver Stick in my opinion is such a rod.
By talking directly with sales personel you can tell them what you are looking for, how much you want to spend and what your fishing needs might are and they can tailor a rod to fit you.
The Thorne custom rods are made right in their store by a wrapper who is the absolute best of the the best. His name is Lonnie and he is the cream of all rod wrapper. You will not be unhappy with Thorne Bros or the rod you choose to have done. Give the store a call.
December 6, 2010 at 12:17 am #914721I have all three in question… if I had to pick just one.. it would be the quiverstick.
December 6, 2010 at 1:37 am #914735I got all three also Luke and the quiverstick gets my nod too cause I am not much of a sight fisherman. I love pounding small jigs and those QS’s have an amazing touch.
December 6, 2010 at 10:11 pm #914922My answer is if you sight fish go with the powernoodle but you can feel alot with this rod as well, it has a very sensetive tip that you can see anything with. The quiverstick is the most sensetive rod I have ever touched. the panfish sweet heart is more versitle rod but better for spoons. So pick the one that fits your needs.
