Yes, nice show as usual. However, I would have stopped fishing after I caught my limit. Not sure if “party fishing” is legal??
Corey:
If you’re referring to the “I love party-fishing comment” by Jon, keep in mind that Jonny is a bit of a jokester. Even so, what we did was legal. Let’s not forget Jon also urged those watching to “steal a car if needed” to get to Upper Red. Will you be reporting that to the authorities?
So why is Jonny’s off the cuff remark about “party fishing,” a comment that was obviously directed at me as a jab over Jonny’s hot hand with the fish and not intended to be a statement of fact in any way, warrant any kind of response from you? Should you be making this post without your Vex hat on, I’ll remind you of the liberty we take while filming to paint a picture. Jon’s last fish came at sundown right before the pike hit. While on the show it appears as if Jon keeps fishing, look at the lighting and the sky to see that these were scenes from earlier which we used to back-fill the storyline. In helping to produce Vexilar’s Ice Fishing Today TV-show, surely you understand the ins/outs of filming short segments to be put together later via editing?
I apologize should I be coming off harshly Corey. To those of you looking in, Corey and I know each other well, and tend to see one another regularly when working for our respective companies. Myself as a pro-staffer for Marcum, and Corey Studer being a Sales/Brand Manager for Vexilar. I’ve never had issues with you personally Corey, but it’s a grand charge you level when insinuating we weren’t following the letter of the law. Especially when Jon sits on the Citizens Advisory Committee to Upper Red Lake’s DNR Fisheries Taskforce, is a direct representative to DNR Fisheries and is on the Board of Directors for Upper Red Lake Area Association. He attends several meetings annually with DNR Fisheries regarding Upper Red Lake, and volunteers his time to help with the DNR shocking surveys rain or shine, day or night. He and his family have been major players in helping to promote following the legal limits of the lake. It’s his livelihood and his family’s also. It has been for four generations. I’m certain he wouldn’t risk that heritage and history over a television show, a post, or a fish.
Should you in the future feel the need to take personal shots, or level false claims again, know that it’s your credibility you’re affecting as well as the credibility of the company you represent.
