I went with the Cabelas Inferno 2000 Pac Boot. They are very warm and comfortable when walking.
If your feet sweat, go with a Polypropylene Liner Sock under a good wool sock. The polypropylene will wick the moisture away from your feet keeping them dry while the wool helps to keep them warm.
November 27, 2010 at 1:38 pm #912615By far the warmest I have owned is Baffin. And the last ones I have owned. Also, remember to not wear really thick socks or the boots will be unable to do their job. Wear a sock liner and a midweight sock like Smartwool and you will never have cold feet or even sweaty feet for that matter.

I haven’t dropped the hammer on a pair of these yet but plan to soon…
November 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm #912620I’m a very lucky guy and can say cold feet is something I very rarely experience. Most Pack Boots seem bulky to me but there is always a pair in the sled for backup.
My set of boots I have right now are Rocky’s. They have leather bottoms and Nylon tops and they sport 12k of Thinsulate. They look very similar to the Deer Stalker Style. With this said I have heard the quality of Rocky boots has taken a dive. I’m not sure for myself but this pair I have now has been very well taken care of and is going on 8 years of hard use in the field.
I am getting ready for a new pair of boots and I have my eye on Danner’s. I do believe this will be my next purchase for ice fishing boots.Make sure to keep your boots treated. I have heard a lot of people complain about there footwear and when I ask them what they treat there boots with they produce a dumb founded look on there face.
When buying a boot for ice fishing take a pair of the socks you plan on wearing to make sure you do not buy your boots to tight. I agree with Blue when it comes to socks “go with a Polypropylene Liner Sock under a good wool sock”.
November 27, 2010 at 2:35 pm #912624If your looking to order online, try ordering from Zappo’s.com,they have Baffin line of boot’s and they also have free shipping both ways just in case they don’t fit just right.
November 27, 2010 at 2:42 pm #912630This year I retired my Rocky’s after 12 years of outstanding warm service, I just ordered some Cabela’s Inferno’s yeaterday. I sure hope they are as good as Blue says they are
November 27, 2010 at 2:54 pm #912635I have had a pair of Inferno’s for about 5 years now and just love them. For some reason this last year if it was really wet on the ice my feet got wet. I took them back to cabelas and they took them back no questions asked. Like Bret said make sure you treat them. I got lazy the last 2 years and i think they might have cracked. But other than the small leak in one boot they are the warmest boot I’ve ever worn. I really used them hard probally fishing 60 or 70 times a year and I got some awesome use out of them. I got the same replacement pair and expect the same quality as the last ones. By the way Bret what do you use for a treatment? Dan
November 27, 2010 at 3:01 pm #912638If you don’t care about the discoloring of your boots, silioce water gaurd, found at WalMart and cheap. It is a product of Atsko and it apply’s very well. It will just darken the color of leather.
November 27, 2010 at 3:13 pm #912641One more side note I would get 1 size bigger to accomodate for your socks. They seem to be fairly snug at first but they will stretch eventually. Bret, I used some seal wax or something like that in the past and it worked well. It conditioned very nice and is pretty cheap. Dan
November 27, 2010 at 3:17 pm #912645Seal Wax is very good stuff too I took the lazy way out and found a spray that works for me
No matter what a guy uses for treatment, is is very important to apply too clean dry boots!
November 27, 2010 at 3:20 pm #912647Bret, I have those Pronghorn 1200’s and they are the bomb. Much lighter and less bulky than a pack book. Dry and warm. Would highly recommend.
Those, along with a good poly sock liner and wool sock and you are ready for the nasty stuff.
Oh yeah, treat them with water proof spray a few times each season. I don’t think you can use too much of that stuff.

I always had cold feet, even with 2000 gram boots. Last year I bought a pair of Baffin boots and so far have not had cold feet on the ice. They have been the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. I also wear Merino wool socks with them.Ed

Thanks for the word
It always helps when spending that kind of ching to hear that someone else likes themNovember 27, 2010 at 3:40 pm #912657I prefer something like these, in the 2000 Gram model. Put them on and never look back, great for all types of Ice fishing, from early ice long walks til late season standing in 10 inchs of water! They have never let me down! When punching alot of holes I hate skiming so I throttle the augar a touch while lifting it out of the hole which sends water on my boots but my feet will never get wet! Yu can step in someone elses unfroze hole and go up to your knee and your feet will still be dry!!
November 27, 2010 at 5:08 pm #912677Thanks for info. Wife is headed out shopping with poly socks on the list. Gonna give em a try tommorrow on the river. Yes even in this weather my feet will get cold standing in one spot. Hopefully the ice show will have some boots. Taken a liking of those ones from Canada.
November 27, 2010 at 6:27 pm #912690Baffin boots are not water proof…correct? I love them, and have wore them, and agree most comfortable boots ever, but the pair my buddies have, if you step in ANY water, you get wet. Is there a waterproof pair of baffins?
November 27, 2010 at 8:33 pm #912707Andy,before you go out, spray your feet with anti persperent. Will make a world of differance.

Luke, I wore mine all last season and never had water go through them. I use a power auger and always kick the ice and slush away from the hole with my foot so they got a lot of water on them.Ed

I’ve owned mine for more than 6 years and have never had wet feet. mine are not a pac boot. Mine have a leather upper. I’m glad to see a few others have discovered Baffin. You won’t be disappointed.
November 27, 2010 at 11:45 pm #912733The Artic series of Baffin ARE waterproof. They weren’t in years past… (like 4 or 5 years ago) which causes the confusion. I wore mine last year and never again will I need to buy toe warmers!!! Incredible.
Oh… and something I have to mention. I wore them hunting this year too. Not the coldest hunting season… so not much to judge by as far as cold feet go. BUT… when I got home, I pulled the liner out just to show a buddy and low and behold, there was very little liquid in the bottom. My guess? Sweat. It wicked away sweat out of the liners. Unreal. My socks never felt wet and neither did the inside of the liners. It all got wicked away.
November 28, 2010 at 1:20 pm #912823Another thing to consider when spending your hard earned cash on a good pair of boots is getting a boot dryer
A dryer will prolong the life of good boots. The forced air helps eliminate odor and bacteria much better than placing the boots in front of your heat register.
