Has anyone heard of or had a problem with Rocky boots? I was doing some research on some new boots for icefishing. When I was checking out reveiws of the Rocky bear claws I found quite a few bad reveiws saying that the soles of them would decintagrate after a few years and chunks would just kind of fall off. I didn’t find that for any other model, but some of the reveiws made it sound like all Rocky boots had this problem. I myself have a pair of Rocky boots Ive had for 8 years and the only reason I am replacing them is because the camo leather on the upper got a crack in it and it now is not waterproof. I would like to know if this problem is real and if it is model specific. Thanks for any info.

I have a pair of Bear Claws that totally disentegrated as
you described. I called Rocky inquiring about the problem
and they sent me out a new set of soles.I was going to have a shoe repair shop put the new soles on
and they told me they were junk and talked me into putting
a set of Goodyear soles on.These are the only Rocky’s I have owned so I can’t speak
for any other models. My friend has Bear Claws that are
doing the same thing mine did as evident by the
black chunks I cleaned off of the bow floor after our last fishing trip.November 21, 2010 at 1:58 am #911123I have a pair of these Rocky boots that I have worn for about 10 years hunting, fishing and for everything else and they are still waterproof. I just looked at the soles and they look barely worn. Love em and will buy another pair when these wear out.
November 21, 2010 at 2:00 am #911124My last pair of Rockys didn’t last one year of hard use out on the ice.
November 21, 2010 at 2:12 am #911128Icefishing is what I want them for. I loved my last pair of Rockys, but am afraid that like everything else they are being made cheaper and with less quality than they were a few years back.
November 21, 2010 at 5:01 am #911140Same thing happened to me also. I looked down on the deck of the boat and there were chunks of black rubber everywhere. The sole was falling apart and it was a pain in the arse getting it out of the carpet.
November 21, 2010 at 11:28 am #911149I own Rocky Ice Stalkers for 9-10 years. All intact
and still looks good. If I had a camera cord…
not saying the newer models aren’t junk like I’ve read.
May want to look into Cabelas line?? Irish Setters, Wolverines
are my work boot preferences.November 21, 2010 at 12:59 pm #911151Hmmmmmm
And all this time, I had thought I stepped in gas or something that ate my soles of my boats.
November 21, 2010 at 1:22 pm #911155I had a pair of Rocky Blizzard Stalkers that lasted me 12 years until the side finally blew out on me, I was looking at getting another pair of Rocky’s but not after reading this thread

New soles??? What kind of an outfit is this? I had a problem with an older and well used pair of Columbia Bugaboos and they sent me a new pair, no questions asked. All they asked in return was my old boots and they paid the shipping

Them like many others looked at how to increase their profit margin and relocated most of their boot making to Mexico. Rocky Boots are no longer about quality or craftmanship. Their original store in Nelsonville was the main industry in that town before they moved their operation to mexico.
November 21, 2010 at 4:13 pm #911202I have owned 2 pairs of bear claws both laste many years chasing elk, ice fishing and winter construction as well as deer and pheasant hunting. My last 2pairs of hikers howerever last about a year before the seams start falling apart. Columbia gets my money now, wasted a bunch of money on Redwings and was very dissapointed with them.
November 21, 2010 at 6:30 pm #911236Look at LaCrosse for Ice boots… also, I have 2 pairs of Rockys, not the real heavy ones, but I am on about year 12 minimum with 1 pair, nothing but great things to say…. BTW, if I bought a pair of boots and they were trashed in 1 year…. they would be returned where I bought them, much like that old lady returning that tire to the tire store in the commercial. Somethings wrong with 1 year of use and trashed…

Good to know. No more Rockys for me…
