Sorry if there was a post on this already —

Never buy a yellow one!!! That’s what I told my buddy at work when he asked if I’d seen the Fleet Farm ads from this last Sunday that had a propane powered ice auger for sale. At the moment, he’s in the market to buy and asked if I knew any details about the auger. I told him I didn’t but knew that IDO guys would have some answers. What I can see from the ad, its expensive, heavy, and looks bulky. They try to sell you with the whole gimic “Never mix gas again, Never get that gas smell on your hands again” Is there any pros to this auger???

Since this last post I have linked here, I have not heard anymore on the Jiffy Propane auger.

    Auger Question

So there is a start for some reading material.
    Hope it helps.

One of the sales guys at the Owatonna Cableas store fired up one of these the other night for a couple of us. He says a can of propane would a last for about 45 minutes. I didn’t think the augar was that heavy. Price tag was a little heavy – $499 –

If I remember right, my strike master weighs 25-27 lbs, comparing that to the 40-42lbs of these new jiffys. If you punch 100+ holes with that your going to feel it in the morning.

The 45 minute run time…?? was that starting the auger and letting it idle??? Did he mention run time when your drilling through 18-20″ of ice???

I have another question, if I have a WI license and I’m fishing the Mississippi backwaters that I entered on the WI side and I’m on the WI half of the river can I use 3 poles?

Also if I’m on the MN side in the backwaters do I need a MN license? I would think so but just making sure. If I do not need a MN license can I only use 2 poles?

I want to try fishing the backwaters this year and do not want to get in trouble. I have fished lakes on the WI UP of MI border and there I can use my WI license on any part of the lake.
