I’m looking for a nice rod bag that holds 4-5 rods with reels and a few jig boxes. Some hand warmers etc… All spinning gear.

I’ve had a Revolution bag for about 3 years now. I would
buy another one when this one wears out.I know some guys have had zipper issues and have gone to
the otter hard sided case. I haven’t had any zipper issues.I like the top storage area on the Revolution.

November 14, 2010 at 1:53 pm #909542I’m going on at least my 5th years with my Stone Legacy Revolution. Love it. 6 rod/reels, a tip up if I want, and my most used terminal gear in smallers boxes easily fit. Good workmanship. No issues with zippers or seems to date. Highly recommended here.
November 14, 2010 at 7:03 pm #909587The Stone Legacy Revolution looks to be a very nice one. If I wanted a bag for my rods that is what I would get for sure.
November 14, 2010 at 7:31 pm #909588Kooty, any reason why you won’t entertain looking at an Otter Rod Box? I picked 2 of them up not too long ago and I couldn’t be happier!
Besides the fishing aspect of these boxes, I can see myself breaking down a couple guns and storing them inside them for hunting trips.
Kinda gives these boxes a year ’round usefulness.
November 15, 2010 at 12:26 am #909660mine says Ready Rig on the side, it will hold 4 rods and reels and two tip-ups three ice jig boxes extra hand warmers and a couple sets of grippers, pretty happy with it so far I think it came from Reeds

Depends how you fish, and if you want to have a few options. I own a few Stone Legacy Revolutions, an Otter Rod Box, and have owned the Ready Rig and a few others as well. I tend to break my fishing excursions into two types and organize my gear accordingly:
- Snowmobile/ATV – If I’m under power and will be traveling at any good speed across rough ice, ice heaves, etc., I’ve got far too much invested in my rods/reels to chance it to soft bags. I’ve never broken a rod in my revolution, but i’ve never allowed myself the opportunity. The Otter rod boxes are bomb-proof and fit/stack nicely inside an Otter sled or strap easily to about any ice-vehicle. There are other gun-cases or cheaper molded items out there, but few can withstand crushing pressure without bending bail springs, breaking rod guides, etc. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but take a trek across rough ice and it can look like a grenade went off inside your shack. Last Otter Rod Case I saw was at Thorne Bros.
- Vehicle/On-foot – If I’m driving a truck out then hoofing it, the Stone Legacy bag is great. The thing holds ALOT more than you’d think, including several rod reel combinations. I can get up to eight in there but it’s a bit messy. Four is easy. Best thing is that it rides on my back when I’m going a bit further on-foot.
If you had to buy just one, I’d look at the way you primarily fish and choose the appropriate product of these two.
Good luck man!

November 15, 2010 at 5:29 pm #909809Stone Legacy for me too.
6 ice rods (in rod socks) and room for tackle trays or tip ups in the top compartment.
I strap it to my cargo rack on my snowmobile and take off.
4 years with it and not a problem.
November 15, 2010 at 6:22 pm #909825Besides the Otter rod case, I will add Thorne Bros. own soft sided rod bag is another favorite of mine. I’ve worn holes in the bottom over the years and I may have to buy another soon.
This rod case works well to hold all my tackle, rods and other “stuff”, and can even strap it on my back if needed.
