to start thinking hard water, but I am in the market for a new flip shelter. I currently have the frabil solo and looking to up grade. I seen a guy last year with an eskimo eskape. They look sharp. Any ideas as far as the eskape series? What about the clams? I am keeping an open mind. With a growing family no smaller than a 2 seater.

IMO eskimo is a “light duty”house. Personally, you can not beat an Otter for durability, espicially if you add the hyfax runners. Consequebtly not the lightest rig either if you need to load a larger house in the pickup solo. Trade offs I guess. I would reccomend actually getting in some display models where u can check out quality, features and weight.

I think you’re right Chuck. Last winter I bought an eskimo 2 man flip up shelter and after a few times using it, I found that the plastic on the window had cracked and there were two tears in the canvas tent material. If I buy another one, I will be doing some better research before I buy it.

Clam has some new houses for this coming season. Might want to have a look at them. By the way, it is not too early to start thinking hardwater. Been on my mind for some time now.

I have an eskimo quikflip 2. It is a little crowded with me and the 7yo and 9yo,but it can be done. The quality seems ok. I don’t get out alot so it works for me.I will agree though if money is not an issue go Otter.

I did pick up a used frabill voyager and it looks like it may work out better when both kids are with. It is a cabin style with a plastic floor.

I would look at and sit in as many different styles as I could before I got one.

You do have to be careful not to pinch the tent when putting it away.

Thorne Bros will be hosting the Portable Mod event in their parking lot on Saturday the 25th of September. Every portable maker wiill be there with the newest that’s to be offered and with special event pricing. This is actually a better preview than the St. Paul Ice Show where you have to pay to get in….this is a freebie. And they have an excellent line-up of speakers. Everything, and I do mean everything, is on sale that day.
