Has anyone got some information on the new Vexilars that are coming out? I here they have an underwater camera and I went to their website to look for information and didn’t find much. I did see images of the new FL-22 and it looked pretty sweet, but I was wondering if anyone had any information on the peak power and features. I seen something on the unit that mentioned HD and Tri Beam transducer, but was looking for more. After all, it’s 88 and humid down here, I might as well get ready for ice

I have been Googling the FL-22 for a week or so and there seems to be a few insiders that are letting out a little info. You may want to check that route.

There will be more info on the site about the FL-22, Tri-Beam Ice-Ducer and the FS1000 under water camera late next month. It seemes like the ice heads get more antsy every year. Generally, Vexilar changes their web site in September, but may have to switch sooner… I’m pretty sure Thorne Brothers will have some in stock during their September event.

I had the pleasure of using the FL-22 last season for a very short time. I have to say that, having been a true MarCum fan… I was VERY impressed. For those that fish shallow (60 feet or less)… this is the ultimate (in my opinion). The FL-22 is in 10 foot increments (up to 60 feet) rather than 20 foot increments as most models have. the Tri-beam gives you an 8, 12 and 20 degree cone angle (on a side note… you can buy the new tri-beam separately as well). After having used it next to the LX5 and FL20… I am making the switch. I can’t think of a time I have fished deeper than 50’… so not worried about the sacrafice.

Here was the release on the new Vexilar camera:

    Quote:

    Vexilar Launches High Quality, High
    Performance Underwater Camera
Minneapolis, MN; Vexilar, the world leader in three-color fasher sonar technology
is launching an all new color underwater camera system. The new system is called
the Fish Scout and is the result of years of development and testing.
The two key elements of the system are the monitor and the camera itself. The
monitor in the Fish Scout is a custom built 7” wide screen LCD display using the
super bright a-Si TFT active matrix driver with a high resolution display of
480X3(RGB)X234. The display has over 330,000 pixels and is specifcally
designed to perform down to -30 C temperatures.
The Super HAD CCD Sony Camera is mounted inside a dual water tight chamber
to greatly reduce any leaks to the camera compartment. The camera automatically
switches from being a super low light black and white camera a brilliant color
display when light the conditions permit it.
The all new Fish Scout comes with a Vexilar D-130 battery status indictor and a 12
volt, 9 amp hour battery and 1 amp fully automatic charger. The carrying case and
soft pack will protect the complete system plus the unique cable management
system that holds 80 feet of custom made, super thin cable. Ice Anglers will be
glad to know it all fts into a fve gallon bucket!
The Fish Scout will set new standards for quality in the underwater camera world
and is backed by a full two-year warranty. The amazing break though with the
Vexilar camera system is run time. You will be able to run the system for over 9
hours on one fully charged battery.

Here is the release on the new FL22

    Quote:

Minneapolis, MN. Vexilar, the world leader in three-color sonar technology has raised the bar for flasher sonar performance with the introduction of their all new FL-22HD sonar system.

“While other sonar companies try to “Out Power” each other by making it a race to see who has more output power, Vexilar understands that after 50 years of watching the copycats; the serious angler understands that big numbers on the side of a box is no substitute for a real world increase in resolution, target ID and reliability. Vexilar focused their research and development on a new generation of winter sonar system technology with the FL-22HD. Simply put, it delivers the highest resolution and best target display ever in a Flasher sonar system,” stated Tom Zenanko from Vexilar. Mr. Zenanko said, “The FL-22HD is not for everyone as it offers ranges down to only 60 feet, but ranges start at 10 foot. So it is ideal for many shallow water anglers. When you combine it with the new Vexilar Tri-Beam transducer, you can fish in any fishing scenario with a new level of clarity and resolution.”

The magic in the new FL-22HD starts with its ability to match the output pulse length with each depth range making for an ideal balance between target ID and display resolution. This is a first with any flasher sonar and since it delivers the best possible resolution at each depth range, you are able to see more detail and understand more about what is going on below. The FL-22HD also has a built-in low power mode, ideal for fishing in heavy weeds and still spotting your fish targets. Two zoom zones that target the bottom 6 or 12 feet of the water column. It also offers a 6 foot Bottom Lock feature for use during the open water season. All of this with target ID down to 1/8 inch, built in night mode and now consumes 25% less power to last longer on a single battery charge.

To learn more about the FL-22HD and Vexilar’s other great new products, check out the Vexilar web site at http://www.Vexilar.com

I have one of the new FL-22HD units rigged on my boat right now and they are going to set the new bar for flashers this winter! With a 10-foot mode, all of us shallow water anglers are in heaven! And, the new Tri-Beam transducer is nothing short of revolutionary! 3 options for cone angle with a simple flick of a switch! Job well done Vexilar!

Retailers should be receiving the new FL-22HD units at the end of the summer, early fall at the lastest…… stay tuned……

    I’m guessing Vex has a new “pro-staff”.

    Congrats!
