Hi Todders
Here’s the link to the 825sd on the MarCum site for all the info on cost and availability >>> MarCum 825sd
If you’re looking for a deal for buying a couple units you really need to go to the St. Paul Ice show held early December. The retailers that display there are very open to making this type of deal.
HDTV comes to fishing
Widescreen MarCum VS825SD maxes out features without jacking up the price!
Minneapolis, MN – More features, more innovations, and just plain more fun than any other piece of marine electronics you’ll ever own. That’s the next generation of underwater cameras by category leader MarCum Technologies. Drop the optics below your boat, dock, or hole in the ice and let the show begin.
Manufactured in the USA, the new MarCum VS825SD provides the ultimate in underwater viewing—a virtual HD TV experience right on the water. A waterproof 8-inch Flat Panel LCD widescreen displays panoramic views of the underwater terrain—monster fish, sunken timber, vegetation, rockpiles, and previously unknown hotspots.
Use the VS825SD on overcast days, at night, and even in bright sunshine. With advanced Solar-Intelligent® LCD Technology you get a truly daylight viewable display that’s 3 times brighter than anything else on the market. Plus, the VS825SD offers the first-ever Dual Switchable Color/B&W LCD. For maximizing underwater detail in clear and shallow conditions, select Color Mode. In deep, dark water where color disappears naturally, switch to high-contrast B&W Mode. You get optimal viewing clarity in all conditions.
Another MarCum innovation—all new high-resolution SONY® Super HAD II CCD camera optics. An advanced, expanded image sensor efficiently gathers light and produces a super high-resolution video image. Combine premium SONY optics with MarCum’s patented Darkwater® Lighting Technology, and the result is maximum visibility even in dark and dirty water environments.
“The MarCum VS825SD is a huge leap forward in underwater camera technology,” says professional angler and MarCum Pro-Staff Tony Roach. “I’ve used all the cameras out there, but this one is different. It sets a whole new standard in quality and ease of use. The screen clarity and color are amazing. And I can use the on-screen functions of depth, temperature, and camera direction to track fish schools, and even find secret temperature breaks that draw big schools. Whether I’m prefishing for a tournament or guiding on the ice, the VS825SD is an essential tool for locating both structure and fish.”
Maxed-out indeed, the VS825SD now includes a FREE Auto Camera Panning Accessory in the box. ($50 value). Completing this premium viewing system is a more powerful 12-volt 9-amp rechargeable battery with 3-Stage Auto Charger, 75-feet of heavy-duty camera cable, and a Deluxe Padded Softpack. You get new on-screen displays of Depth, Water Temperature, Direction and Battery Voltage. The VS825SD is even calibrated for use in fresh or salt water, and units of measurement can be switched from standard to metric. More features, less money. Check out the MarCum difference.

Thanks for the link, only problem with the ice show is that there has been fishable ice during it for the last 2 years what’s a Guy to do
Go to the ice show cuz you will see more products that will catch your interest. Plus you still have four more months of ice to fill your desire.
Consider your self lucky, I wish we had an ice show down here.
I have the 820 B%W unit, last year’s model, does a good job.
Will the newer models have the a/v jack?
Does the new Vex camera have an a/v jack?
Curious.

Will the newer models have the a/v jack?
Yes, all the new MarCum cameras come with an AV jack in the same location as the previous models.
I’ve had the chance to play with the new MarCum cameras this summer. Here’s what has stood out to me.
All the new marcum viewing systems use a Sony HAD II camera and record at 600 vertical lines of resolution which is a significant advantage over all other cameras that record at 480 vertical lines. We’ve all seen the difference between standard definition TV at 480 lines and high definition (HD) TV at 720 lines. With this last improvement from MarCum the cameras have been improved to the point where the MarCum product line is fast approaching HD capabilities. I’ve had the chance to test one of the new cameras side by side against the previous generation of MarCum cameras and there’s no comparison. The image quality, color and depth of field will impress you the first time you lay eyes on the monitor.
The second major improvement comes from the increase in brightness of the monitors used in the new MarCum cameras. The 620 and 625sd run monitors that are 300% brighter than last years monitors. The 825sd is 400% brighter which puts the 825sd on par regarding brightness of display with the top of the line sonar units available on the market today. This makes the new marcum monitors viewable outdoors in the brightest of conditions. Put any camera from any other company next to one of the new MarCum cameras in bright sun and see for yourself. Only the MarCum cameras can truly call themselves daylight viewable.
The new depth sensor on the MarCum 625sd and 825sd is another cool feature that will save tons of time trying to position the camera. Ever tried to position a camera without depth capabilities to look for suspended fish? Sure, you can count off feet on the cord as you drop it down but that’s not exactly the most accurate way to go. The MarCum depth sensor is accurate to within 1 inch. If you want the camera head 10’ down, no problem. 6” from the bottom? Same deal. The sd units display the depth of the camera head on the display as you lower it into the water.
The MarCum 625sd and 825sd cameras also have ColorKill capabilities which means anglers no longer have to choose between a black and white camera for use in low visibility conditions or a color camera in clear conditions. The new Sony HAD II cameras used by MarCum actually have dual imaging sensors that allow an angler to switch back and forth from a true black and white image capture to a color image capture as conditions warrant. If you find yourself in failing daylight, use ColorKill to switch to black and white and make the most of the available clarity, depth of field and contrast. Should you be fortunate enough to fish a clear water lake or river you can switch back and soak in all 600 lines of resolution in vibrant color.
The new 625sd and 825sd also have camera head direction and temperature information displayed on the monitor as well.
Hope this helps.

Does the new Vex camera have an a/v jack?
I’m honestly not sure. I’m sure someone will chime in with the info.
I have placed an order for an 825sd from Reeds. They have them on their site but they’re not available yet. They told me last week they think they’ll have them in a couple weeks. I just told them as soon as they get them to send one to me. It just looks like an incredible camera. I’m looking forward to adding a new dimension to finding fish and identifying them.
I shot MarCum an email on this… late September is the target for release.
Thanks James, I guess it will be a couple more weeks than I expected but at least when they do start shipping them I’ll be getting one.
I’m also curious to know what kind of recorder you use to hook up to your camera when you make those underwater video clips?
Thank you James That looks really convenient. I had no idea you could use a video camera to act as a recorder for your underwater camera.
Brian, I’ll check out the red one too. Saving money is always a good thing. Thanks.
