Last Sun. my BIL came up to Volga to fish with me, we didn’t do very good but he tells me about a sandpit that is on the same land that he has his trailer all summer and he has the key to the gate!!! So this morning Lupe and I are on the road at 5:30 headed there to meet up with him. After a quick stop for breakfast at Caseys we meet him at 6:30. He takes us to the boat ramp and my nephew says that he catches bluegills just out from the ramp by a sandbar so we headed out about 100′ from the ramp. I fired up my strikemaster and he fired up his eskimo and we proceeded to punch holes. Lupe set up on the first hole I drilled and had 4 fish caught before I was done drilling. When I finally got to a hole the bite was on until 9:00. I would drop the jig down the hole and it wouldn’t get 5 to 6 foot from the bottom and the Marcum would just light up. I would just stop the jig and when a mark would get to the jig I had a fish!!!!
It was nonstop until 9:00 then we had to hole hop but we still caught fish. The smallest fish caught was 5″ and most were 7 to 9 inches. Lupe and I cleaned 39 big bluegill!!! It was a nice change from all the lookers we’ve dealt with this winter. No pics because we were to busy fishing!!
