The stage was set – we were to get up at 5am and be on the lake by 6am for some early morning pan fish, and that we did. We got the house set up and were ready to fish. I put Riley on the vexilar cause he requested “the video game” the night before.
**Side note – It is really cool when your kid knows how to make a fish follow the bait up, stop, then watch the spring bobber and set the hook. He had this down after about 2 attempts and what a pro he was.
RyanK was able to join us this morning – and when he started saying that he had bites outside of the house, Riley quickly wanted to move outside and join in on the “catching” aspect of the trip. It was a little brisk this morning, but he insisted that he wanted to catch some fish. This is when I knew it – we had a future fisherman. He proceeded to go outside and find the fish!
“There is no fish in this hole, can you drill another please,” we were ordered! However, we gladly agreed!
About 4 hours into our 6 hour trip our future fish man decided to ‘use dads night fishing tactic’ and take a nap.
“Dad, do I have to keep watching this bobber? Cause I really want to take a nap.”
All and all we didn’t catch the most amount of fish, but this is a day I will not forget.
