Heard several reports from a buddy that the perch were slamming saturday. One guy caught 21 perch, the smallest was 12 inches… biggest 14.5 (weighed 2 lbs) something about this lake that just cranks out the monster perch (at least for now) no pics though sorry

We were on a little lake called Elk Lake (I think) several years ago and it was just wild with big perch. Why haven’t I been back??????

Come on now, don’t tease us like that, where are the pics?

I believe the limit on perch is 10 per person per day, not sure, but is 20 in possession your take home limit as long as you stay 2 days? Even 10 perch that size is sure a bunch of meat. There are a ton of sloughs which don’t look like much which can kick out those sized fish, problem is, once the word gets out the population can get decimated pretty quick.

Not sure if he kept 21… just caught them. He works for the USFW so I’d be willing to bet he followed the rules though

10 perch is the limit now? Thats a long way to drive for that plus they bend you over on their non-resident fees

right from the SD fishing rules

    Perch/Crappie/White Bass/Rock Bass (each) – 25 daily, 50 possession.

I don’t know where I was thinking 10 per day, could that be a Waubay thing?? Mmmm. going to have to look harder!

lake to lake regs are all different. Waubay is definitely 10 perch The lakes with a more long term management plan have more specific regulations. So many of the lakes and sloughs are shallow and cycle constantly that every year its a different place to fish. Lots of times lakes get pounded to death by fishing pressure but sometimes they just die off because of bad winters etc… Waubay is a more permanent fishery so it is managed much more intensely.

i been told they been hammerin them on reeze lake.Someone brought in a 15 lb walleye off of there a couple weeks ago. limit on that lake is 1 walleye over 28 or 29. in. Lot of big jumbo’s been coming out of there this year to. I believe thats a 10 perch lake. Few crappie and pike been hauled out of there to.

Reeze is a trophy walleye lake. You can only keep one fish. there are some monsters in there… guys get them by staying over night. Not sure about the other fish in the lake thoguh
