Saturday I was on the ice at the crack of dawn in search of northern. Setting my tip ups a foot under the ice using an extra large shiner I was able to ice 4 nice gators from 7-noon. The highlight of the day was catching a 34″ female that had a treble hook with leader and line hanging from the side of its mouth. The same hook and leader I had lost to her in the exact same spot on first ice.
Sunday I was headed out to another spot in search of northern and some panfish. Setting tip ups in 8-10 feet of water I was able to bring 3 nice northerns to the ice. The tip up action was pretty slow to say the least so at about noon I decided to start jigging for panfish in a drop in 17 feet if water. I consistently had marks race up to meet my forage minnow tipped with a waxie and in no time had a nice limit of bluegills in the 7.5 to 9.5 inch range along with some 11-13 inch perch that would prove to be an excellent fish fry while watching the super bowl. I should note that there was there was nobody fishing this spot other than my friend and I as it takes a little work to get to. I’m not sure if Im going to post this pics correctly but I’ll give it a shot. Sorry no pics of the bluegill or perch as my batteries died. Tight lines
