If you got a wheeler take it! ya i know you got to load it and unload it but it sure is a lot less time consuming than getting your truck hauled out of the lake!

10 days ago, folks were driving super duty pickups on the ice at Lake City. Ice was 16″ thick. To the south of Lake City, one can find places along highway 61 down towards Maple Springs where springs from the hill sides exist and open water is observed. I don’t know that anyone has access to the lake in these areas due to the train tracks, but of course it goes without needing to be said to look over the ice and know where you are going. Avoid beaver dams as the little devils will keep water open and at times, the ice can be thin around these locations.

I like walking, it’s good exercise and this is not your normal lake. Chicken I guess.

If you drive on from Maiden Rock 18-20 inches from the red can to 3/4 of the way across i wouldn’t advise driving past the permanent shacks you can go upstream along ways in the middle of the lake and have a solid 20″ I would definately NOT drive down to Frontenac or drive along the Mn shore line You will see a green can on pt no pt do not drive near that i would stay out about 100 yrds the ice varies greatly i seen a car drive back and forth from Front. to shacks upstream yesterday he made it but you won’t see me do it. On tues. I was on 18″ and had 14″ 50 yards away,i measured the depth with a bump board so it was an accurate reading. Just because you see vehicles close to shore doesn’t mean all areas are safe if it was me i’d park a safe distance and walk, good luck

x2 been doing that all season even before the trucks started going through. It may be a lake but once you put a line down u realize it’s a river, even worse by frontenac/methodist.
