saw a tv show where they tied two jigs to one line a foot apart. Is this legal in MN. I looked in the regs and it said if fishing for trout or panfish you could have 3 flies per line? If it is legal is that considered your second line or can you fish with two jigs in one hole and run a tip up or dead stick in another??

In MN we can run two hooks either on the same line or two lines with one hook…for ice fishing.

Works good if a person doesn’t know where the fish are in the water column. With a good flasher, I think it would be more to our advantage to use two lines.

We were fishing MN/WI boundary waters on the Mississippi and were told we could only use 1 pole and 1 tip up, not 2 poles. What is the real rule?

From page 57 of the regulations booklet…

    WISCONSIN–MINNESOTA Regulations
    • Two lines with a single lure or bait on each are permitted. If fishing with one line you may use two baits.

posed the same question to the MN DNR web page and got this response.
    That is illegal.
Maybe it is different on the MN/ WI boundry waters but sounds like Illegal on inland waters in MN
