I made the long road trip up to Stoddard after working 18 days in a row. I was eager and antsy to get some fishing done. With the bite being non-existant down by me I figured what the hell. After a few phone calls to Bret C. and Bucketmouth a general plan was hatched. I headed for the public boat landing hoping to drive out but found a truck went through ice about 30 yards out on the ice. So I headed for the resort and went from there. I got there in the dark and i wandered around in the dark until I found a few old holes. The first hour was super slow, once it was light enough to see I got my bearings figured out and off I went. I found a shallow cut between 2 islands with about 4 foot of water. I really didnt use the LX-5 very much, it seemed hole hopping and keeping mobile was the key. I changed colors and jigs about 15 times before I figured it out. Then it was fairly good action all day. Ended up with 20 gills and 2 nice perch. Sorry no pics but one perch taped out at 13.5″ and 6 of the gills hit 9″s. The hot bait today was a 4mm pink glow fiskas with red gulp maggot and pink n red glow lil cecil tipped with red gulp also. Alot of small fish in between but I’m glad I decided to drive 200 miles round trip. Thanks for the tip on the cecil Jonboy. Dan
