So the RPU power plant is not putting out the hot water it normally does and there for Silver Lake in Rochester is froze this year. Today I see guys on the southside of the bridge using tip-ups. I can honestly say that I have never seen anyone fish the river there even in soft water weather. Whats the scoop Rochester guys.

I have caught some bullheads out of there for catfish bait.

Other then that, I did see a kid catch a northern from below the dam once, maybe there is a decent population of them in there. I guess you never know until you try it.

They probably read the Outdoor Life article from last year noting the great walleye fishing at the confluence of Silver Creek and the Zumbro behind the civic center.

    Or brain death.

There is a hole near the Broadway dam that will give up a pike now and again when people are fishing open water. And pike will come up from Lake Zumbro in the river below the dam. But if they’re doing the pike thing with tip-ups on the ice in that 3 feet of mud-water where you describe, I hope they have some cross-words along. And a dictionary to help out with the crosswords.

They are not nuts, lets put it that way. I drove over the 7th st bridge today and saw the holes. They werent quite in the right spot, but close, and not quite the right time of year.

Even before rpu quit pumping warm water we’ve caught nice slab crappies over by the 3 stone bridges thru the ice…. And in softwater months I fish the rocks out of my canoe… I’ve caught some nice pike… Some big bass too.
