I am looking at heading to LOW with my Ultimate Lodge and was wondering on where to go. Never been up that way in the winter. Can someone point me in the right direction (Place) I can get this Pig of a house on and still get some decent fishing for the kids?

    Thanks!!

From what I hear I would go out of Long Point or Bablers road. But I think Adrians road and Morris Point are doing quite well too. I just got back from the NW Angle and it was slow, but with this warmup it may take off too. good luck.

2 places I will run out if.
1 Adrians road is an $8 road pass and u will drive past 2 bait shops between there and Baudette for supplies. It will be about a 6 mile tow on the lake to get to where u want to fish. Set up in 20-28 FOW. I’d shoot for 24-26 now. It is just a gradual sloping basin with no structure and the fish roam all day. But some areas will be more productive so moving can be a good idea if ur not on fish.
2- is Zipple bay resort. U drive almost past bait shops but they are about .5 mi out of the way unless u stop in Baudette. The drive out on the ice is a bit shorter but not by much. This has been my area of choise this year, been doing a bit better here. Same depths and bottom type but it does drop a bit steeper so changing depths is not as far of a hike.
I like gold, pink, silver and occasionaly green. Have a dead stick down and jig with the other. Oh, and cameras don’t work as the water is too stained. Get fat heads and shiners both. Luck-mark

Are the landings good. I mean, will I hit on the way in or out. It is a big house.

Heaves and Cracks come and go like the weather so I Can’t tell u for sure. I’ve had cracks open up on me on the road from the time I drop the house and turn around to go back in. Both have island crossings but Zipple is smoother and their bridges are more user friendly. I’ve snaggeg some of Adrains bridges with my 8×16. They are very steep and are not good for long vehicles or trailers.

I have accessed at Zippel this year with an 8×18 w/o dragging anything at the landing or the island cross. They charge $8/day or $16/weekend pass if your staying on the ice. Fishing was good in 29′.
