I am hitting Winnie the last weekend of the month for my bachelor party with family and friends. Some of the family ice fish there each winter and know some areas to go to. I am wondering if anyone here has advice on lures, jigs, colors and baits that might help me to catch a few fish. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As with any good bachelor party-ice fishing party you will need a high quality pole……..equipment is everything

Didn’t mean to make light of your question, I was hoping that a few Winnie guys would have jumped in by now.
Anyway, Winnie is still on the wish list for this cat but if you go through some of these posts in the Winnie forum you may find out a few answers. Again, best of luck and have a great time Winnie forum

Greens and whites seem to always be strong producers but don’t rule out gold, blue and red. Keeping things glowed up, even during the day, doesn’t hurt either. Buckshots, Rattlin’ Flyers and Jiggin’ Raps are some of my favorites but a plain hook and minnow under a float should be used too. Fatheads or larger crappie minnows should be fine for bait but I have caught ‘eyes (and perch) on wax worms and/or spikes.

    Good luck.

Thanks for all the tips guys! I will let you know how it goes after the trip. I’ll also let you know if we had a need for one of those large gold poles!

Hey Brian. When fishing Winnie, look for humps that have had little or hopefully no previous activity(drilled holes). These humps should have deep water near by and top out around 20′. Use Buckshot rattle jigs or Swedish pimples tipped with
chub or just the head. Also have a plain hook set up under a float. Good Luck
