The only thing that runs off of 110 is 2 light bulbs in my house so I run it with batteries. For those of you that have generators how do you run the furnace, 12 v lights, TV etc.? Do you need a large inverter? I’m tired of lugging batteries home and would like to find an easier way.

    Thanks,
    Brad

Most generators will have a 12v receptacle on them.

But the generators are heavier than batteries!

Brad, when I had my Ice Castle, I bought an AC/DC converter. There was a outlet in the battery bay of my house. I would plug the converter into that outlet and then connect the furnace and lights to the converter. It worked great. I actually built a terminal where the converter was connected to it all the time and there were posts to connect the alligator clips for the furnace and lights to.

Just like this one. DF 1763 AC TO DC CONVERTER http://www.voltage-converter-transformers.com/heavy-duty-voltage-converter.html

I stole my on-board charger from my boat and mounted it in the battery compartment. Whenever the gen is running, the batteries are getting charged. In the evenings, I usually just have the hole lights(LED bulbs) on – lights up the lower 1.3 of the house nicely and is easy on the eyes.

Thanks for the feedback. Will a 1000 Watt generator run a fish house or do I need a bigger one?

Look at the packaging on the items you want to run. See how many Watts they each draw. A TV, coffee pot, and toaster draw a lot of Wattage.
