Looking for suggestions on best way to organize gear in a portable 2-man sled. Someone has to have some ideas on how to keep things organized and from knocking everything around when transporting. Auger, minnow bucket, rods, propane, heater, tackle etc. thanks Dave

Are you using a wheeler, sled or walking?

Heres how I pack my Yukon:
On the back side where the cover is folded I put the auger in. I set my rod and tacke bag on top of the auger and then put the shovel over the top. In front I spread the seats completely apart. I put my LX-5 under one and other gear under the other. In the middle I place a 5 gallon bucket for bait, another for fish, and a 20 lb. propane tank. Under the seats theres a little basket that I put wrenches, batteries, scoop, lights, and other tools into. I’ve had this setup for 4 or 5 years now and this seems to work the best.

One hint I can give….. I use a 12V deep cycle to power my camera and lights. Just get a battery box, like in the boat, and pop rivet it to the side of the sled, keeps the battery from sliding around. Also, a custom built wood box, works great to put rods and reels in. Milk carton crates work great for a 20lb cylinder, although, I don’t do this, it goes in the box on the wheeler, usually too hot to keep in the sled/house folded down.

heres a quick breakdown of my setup… at work so you get a MSpaint picture. its def not to scale, but gives you a general idea… and i dont fit my auger in there, but it rides on top of the cover and nestles between the chairs and the propane/heater.

I have a big two man otter- I carry my auger on my snowmobile- Inside the otter, I have but a very large rubbermaid tub, that has packing/air bubble stuff lining the bottom, flashers/cameras/tackle bag, etc go in that tub. Otter rod box on top of that. I take those little velcro straps to strap the 20lb tank to the seat frame of the otter, and that keeps that in place very well. Scoop, heater etc go into another rubber maid tub. Everything fits nice so nothing slides around, and everything is padded/protected, even when going eight miles out on rough terrain. I learned my lesson once up on winny, broke an 825c, a lx5, and an auger.

Lots of guys build an insert to help organize their gear. Here’s my version mounted in an Otter Pro Cottage. My auger rides on the snowmobile.

That is opening a whole new line of thought! First time I have seen anything like that. Nice work.

I’m still waiting to see pics of Johnny P’s sled organizer, unless he posted them and I missed it
