Is it necesary to shut off the gas on my Can-Am Outlander each time I’m done using it? My buddy said that if I don’t it puts too much presure on something and eventualy I would have problems. Thanks for your help!

    Shut it off.
My bet is the owner’s manual says the same thing.

Its not a bad idea to turn the fuel valve off. The pressure your friend is talking about comes from the fuel in the tank being above the carburator on the engine. There is a little valve connected to a float in the carb that controls the amount of fuel that goes into the engine. It is possible for fuel to push past this valve and then drip into the engine. I turn the valve off on my sleds and atvs when trailering or not in use. However I have friends that leave them on, and never have a problem. Hope this helps you out.

    Hey Rodbender,
I don’t know which outlander you have but I have a 2008 800 XT and there is no fuel shutoff that I know of and nothing in the owners manual about one.
If yours is the same as mine it is EFI and you don’t have to worry about it as it has a fuel pump.
    Hope this helps
