I use a LED rope light and string it around the pole over my head in the shack and have the on/off switch next to me so I can turn it on when I need to do something and then off again. A headlamp works good also.

I use this waterproof 36″ LED. It’s coated with silicone so its water proof and durable. Plenty of light off a marcum battery. I have it zip tied to one of the supports. Bright as can be. You can find them on superbrightleds.com. I’ve ordered many items from them with no problems. No heat either.

I hate the traditional lantern and also most propane too. However, I stumbled across these when I forgot my lantern 2 years ago. They are sort of mini propane lanterns. They are much briter than white gas and smaller than other propane lanterns. Belive it or not but Walmart is the place for these. Century or ozark trail but stay away from the coleman, the light is yellow not super white like the first two models. They are a single tube style mantel. The mantels hardly ever break, the globe it caged and spring tensioned. The unit fits in the pocket of my hunting coat after removed fron the one lb tank that lasts got 8hrs on high.
Trust me, I’m hard on my equipment and picky on amount of light. $18. -mark
