Thought I’d post here as the Leech thread seems quiet. Have friends and family in WI that make a trip over every winter for perch and whatever on Winne. We have stayed at Highbanks Resort. Cabins are fine and lake access is great with decent day house rental for the old farts that don’t move around like some of us with portables. This year they want to try Leech in late season. Probably March. So looking for ideas of place to stay that would be similar and area of lake to fish. Took a quick look online at resorts and seems things look more high end. Figured somebody would have some opinions. Thanks.

Brindley Harbor for sure action. They are one the lake every day of the winter and offer guiding, house rental, and portable rental. Not to mention they are very nice people.

You could still stay at High Banks and if the bite is hot stay, but it is not too far a drive where you turn south at Bena on that county road and go to the first resort on your right (I think it’s the first, about 4 miles), but before Federal Dam. This is what we did last year and caught a few perch about the size of a 2 liter pop bottle, and many others. The fishing was good all along that north shore in about 12 FOW. Watch James and Matt’s video, and do exactly as they did and you should have fun.

Brindley’s is great, as is Adventure North. That’s where we stay in March. Some of the best late ice perch fishing up there is right in these guy’s backyard. Pine Point, Stony Point, Grand Vu Flats and Goose Island are all strong areas to start your search. And for the record, I’d target Leech perch over Winnie perch any day of the week.

These last two years, I’d agree!
