I’m not a good fisherman!

    It’s a good thing I have other talents, cuz I’m not a good fisherman.

    I met a buddy on Rush Lake SW of New York Mills this afternoon. About 12 inches of ice, lots of permanent shacks & lots of trucks out there… But be carefull!… I was all reved up, punched about 50 holes, had my plan all mapped out… Right away, first time I up and move, 28 ft of water, BAM! I’m thinkin’; “Here we go!” Turns out to be a 2 lb Northern, DOH!… and then it got slow… I moved as much as I could, got bit a few times, but they were light. In all, we ended up with 2 small northerns and one 15 inch. eye…

    The good news is I got my gear all aired out, got the bugs worked out and now I’m ready for the next trip. And man did my hands stay warm in those new snosuit gloves, and I’m not just sayin that cuz they are a sponsor, seriously, my hands were nice & toasty! BK you were right! ELE!

    You are too a good fisherman. You planned it out, worked the plan and stayed with it in spite of a poor bite. Some times the critters don’t cooperate. If you want a wonderful trip, keep going and do it just the same next time. One of these times they will eat their way through the ice to get at you.

    Well I’m saying that because they ARE a sponsor! I doubt if I would ever had tried them on if they weren’t!

    So Erik, I riddle you this. If you aren’t a good fisherman catching 3 fish…what does that make all the rest of us that didn’t catch anything but H-E-!! today???

    I would have given away my Favorite Daughter to get out on the ice today…but that’s not really fair to say as I will give her away for free…heck I’ll pay someone to take her!

    Glad you got your rear end out from in front of a camera and got into some real fishing!

    Don’t let the first trip discourage you as this happens all the time! It could have been a lot worse! Trust me..
