Hey everyone, got the new marcum VS380 underwater camera for chirstmas to complement the flasher. My questions is, how do you know which direction the camera is pointing relative to topside. I bought a marcum camera compass but once you drop the camrea down and attach it to the compass you really dont know which way it starts out pointing. Im not sure if there is a trick to this or what, let me know. thanks!

I would suggest using your jig from another hole as a reference

I use mine in shallow water so I just stick a support pole down there and turn until I see it.

If you know that here is some current under the ice you will have to drill your holes accordly. The current will move to one direction. Happy veiwing. fish333

i use my flasher along side my camera to choose a depth where the fish are, then pop my flasher into my hole that i fish, then drop the bait down and spin that compass slowly til you can see your presentation.
it takes a couple mins to setup and get the proper depth or angle you are looking for.

also, i found that a seperation of greater than 2 feet is best, provided you have the room for that in your shack. i find it cool to see the fish bump the camera on the way in right before they smack your bait!!!

First attach a lead depth finder to your line. Then drop your line down the hole so it’s about a foot or so off the bottom. Then give the camera a quick spin. You should be able to see the weight much easier than a small ice jig. I hope you enjoy the camera
