Lake Mendota at Madison, Wi. is pretty safe now with about 3-5 inches of good ice. Getting walleyes right at dusk off of 2nd point–at a little mid-lake hump which is essentially right in the middle of this 9,900 acre lake. Best bait is a #3 jigging Rap blue/chrome with white Lindy Techni-glow tails on the two end hooks. Perch were biting good too ahead of the cold front–hanger rigs with glow Genz worms and two spikes out from Dunn’s bar.
