10″ hole at first but it was a cold day, holes were constantly freezing over. in the end im sure it was about a 7″ hole….
like i said above. the length was 43″ and gurth was 21.5″
i wont state what the weight, but ill say that my brother lost one bigger when it was half wa out the hole and cut the line and his thumb badly befor it snaked its way back down leaving my dad with a soaked arm… My dad also caught a 17lber…. and we missed hook sets on heavy fish. Too bad Alberta is a barbless province… Today i caught 3 12lbers i will post pictures when i get them!

All were caught on Windless Tip Ups, Hearing and a treble through the body…

Well, the good news is that I rubbed some garlic on them and the smell went away.. the bad news is that Corbin had to clean them and I can’t get rid of the smell on his hands now! HA! Always let the man do the dirty work! Yup.. sticky, slimy, but fun.. wouldn’t change the opportunity to catch the Tullies! That perch was a great catch.. Corbin is very proud of it! We decided we wanted three jumbos to do a nice mount.. and so the quest continues!

I have a little trick for smelly hands. Stainless steel neutrilizes the orders in your skin. I was pretty amazed the first time I tried it. My wife would highly recommend this to anyone. In fact she won’t even acknowledge I’m home until I use it

This picture is from Wednesday. My friend Greg and I made the trip up to the pond for a couple days of fishing. I will get a report up tomorrow. Both of our fish are on the ice, we had been hole hopping and taking them back to the truck so people would not drive by and see all of them.

Here are some pics from out laker trip last January!

This Walleye I caught in 60 ft. of water while jigging for lakers. She was dead by the time I pulled her through the hole with the stomach coming out of it’s mouth. The picture looks fake but I assure you it’s real. It was kind of cool how she froze like that.

Another pick from on the ice!

    Those are all awesome fish.

How do the lakers handle it when you bring them up from so deep? I have some In Fisherman videos that have them catching some but they didn’t show anything that would lead you to think lakers would have any issues.

Lakers are the only fresh water fish that I am aware of that can move up and down the water column with out issue. They actually burp up to relieve pressure…

Lake trout do have the ability to release air from their air bladder really quickly. A lot of the time when you are fighting the fish you will see bubbles start coming up your hole. They are an amazing fish to catch through the ice. I really recommend putting it on your bucket list!

Nice fish Nate. Where were you fishing? I am heading to Ontario in jan/feb to chase lakers. Those fish look great. Great frozen walleye as well.
