How Far for a Fix?

Christmas break is going to be here tomorrow, along with the “we are all going to die” storm on it’s heels. Not wanting to have two daughters and a wife become totally mad at me for being home to much, which gets me growly, how far does a guy travel in these conditions to get out on some ice for some much needed therapy

I’m sure there a lot of ice heads out there keeping the weather radar up on the monitor and checking for storm updates continuously, the slow speeds from the weather sites is proof of that. So far for the La Crosse area the predictions are anywhere from, some rain, maybe some freezing rain and, 4 inches to 2 feet of the white stuff. Sure wish I could be that accurate in my line of work and still have a job

My limits this weekend sound like they will be the North end of pool 8 to maybe some closer stuff towards home. The travel will be 18 – 35 miles, how far are some of you ice junkies planning on traveling to get your fix over the Christmas Holiday during the predicted mother of all storms

Be safe in your travels friends and , Merry Christmas

Considering how much ice under snow accidents there have been already this season , take care of yourself… were going out after Brian’s doctor appointment this morning and gonna pull the plug as soon as the freezing rain starts, and sit it out until “whatever” is past… Fortunately because of the Holiday we don’t have guide customers to worry about. Be safe. Lawrence

Although I’m not thrilled about the snow over the highly traveled weekend and it’s weight on the ice, I’m kinda looking forward to a good dumping.

But as in years past, it’s all hype with 3-4 inches in the end…so to speak.

Of all the days off, I only have Sunday free. Maybe I’ll see if Jessy is on the channels of the St Croix yet. I could go for a meal of crappies!

I have no plans until Saturday. If we’re not getting smashed with the apocalypse that’s predicted, we’ll be heading over to Petenwell looking for some more slot sized Walleyes for pictures. Oh yeah, Gutone4me thinks he wants to catch some crappie thing over there too.

I just know that the wife will want me out of the house by Saturday. 2 days couped up will be enough.

Might go down to the river to watch it rise from the predicted 2 plus inches of rain ontop of frozen ground.

all I know is beginning at 2:30 today, I’m off ’till next year!

I was planning on spending most of the time fishing. But like you said Bret, I’ve been watching the radar and trying to get storm updates and I wonder just what there will be for ice and where.

I was planning a LaX run next week sometime…..but who knows. If I’m stuck at home, I’ll get grumpy too!

I have you all beat! Here is how sick I am. Due to my location, I can’t usually get on the ice until mid January, which is way too long for me to wait. My first trip this year was to Mille Lacs last weekend. Total drive, 520 miles, one way. The next time I will be on the ice will be the first week of January, total drive, 610 miles, one way! Well worth the drive to get to the great MN lakes! I am sick I know but when you love ice-fishing as much as I do it is well worth it! Good luck all and have a Merry Christmas! Hopefully, Santa will bring me a new TB rod this year, look out Lakers
