Venting about trash

I was out fishing Forest Lake on Sunday and was disgusted at the amount of trash out there already. I ran back to my truck to get a trash bag and picked up dozens of pop cans, a couple of propane bottles, chip bags, a broken Mr. Heater stand , water and Gatorade bottles, a half eaten Subway, and a 2 stroke oil bottle.
I filled a trash bag and were only 2 weeks into the season.

Sorry about venting. Just bums me out that some people has such disrespect for our lakes, lake shore owners and our fellow fisherman.

St. Croix was a mess after the weekend as well…I fit as much junk as I could in my Otter and emptied it into the garbage can on shore…Why is it so hard for others to understand the concept of cleaning up after yourself?

Thats terrible I really dont like that people just leave their trash laying around, what a bunch of bums, I have other words but bums is as nice as I will be here

You had room to haul it out on the ice and the majority of public landings still have trash cans at them so you probably got room to haul it back and toss it away for no charge at all. Times like that I wish that somebody would patrol this situation more often

Wish the DNR would start going after these people more aggressively!
All those bums give the rest of us a big black-eye.

    Same as when hunting!

Maybe we could ask area coppers about getting permission to photo these creeps and record truck or car license numbers….an turn in trash bums to them for later action.
Maybe make a cell call an they come on over to ticket them up.
For sure something has to be done as year after year this just keeps getting over the top.

Amazing that when I ask someone to take it home as you brought it out here they mumble, but I simply turn on my best Charile Manson smile an they get my drift.

Sad one has to baby sit grown people about such childish things as litter on the ice an just being nice to Mother Nature.

Sorry but tire of reading an seeing this junk posted.

    Why oh Why?

    Thanks.

I too get frustrated with people leaving trash…….But I really hate when people try and drive trucks way too early in the winter season and break through the ice.

On my favorite lake last year their was 2 trucks that went through in december, and i have heard through the grape vine that 1 more person tried driving out this year and they went under. Why do people have to be the first ones to drive on the ice? Its not safe right now!!!

It sucks no doubt. I try to leave the lake with more than I took. It’s all we can do.

Noticed the same thing on Ham Lake last weekend. Group of young people where set up not to far from my kids a later that night while hole hopping in that area found the pop bottles.

It was also nice to hear all of the cussing going on by these kids as I was getting my son and his buddy set up to fish. Not much a person can do about that. Told Jonathan to make sure and not bring that kinda of talk back to the hose or mom would flip out.

I got checked by a CO last year. IT was a sub Zero day and she hung out in my little Clam Jr. to warm up. She noticed my bag of trash, and said “WOW is this Just from today?” It had a variety of beer, and pop cans, about 5 1lb propane tanks, Mc Donalds bag and wrappers as well a Burger King. I told her For ME YES it was from today I spent an hour picking up before I even driled a hole. But I’m hoping it had been from a trash can the blew over somewhere but I highly doubted it.”

I’m envious of you guys. While I despise the slobs I have never picked up after them much. I guess its about time I start. Thanks for the good example and for picking up after those @#^#%$@^%#*&$^&#@&$ er’s.

Sorry, but those folks are NOT fellow anglers or sportsmen. They’re PIGS! I’m pretty confident they’re not from this core… Thank you for being a true sportsman and cleaning up after others and helping preserve our waters.

Yep it’s getting pathetic. I fish rush lake very often and everytime I leave that lake I have a five gallon pale full of garbage. Really though how hard is it to just toss somethin in a bag? Obviously just a little to much work for some lazy people. I respect fellow garbage picker uppers we are saving this sport for others.

when the ice is right we pull a fish house out onto South Center, we would pick up a 5 gallon bucket or two each time out, the amount of trash which washes up on shore is also scary, and hey don’t forget plowing into a block of ice left out by the spear houses at night. This also gets me pretty fired up.

We fish lakes in Wisconsin. We haven’t had to pick up much trash. Also, I am luck to fish with a group that knows enough to pack out their trash.
